Tentram Living began in 2020, when Christina Tjhauw started learning ceramics after the pandemic. She studied under Haryo Soenggono at Bengkel Keramik Puspa, a home ceramics studio in South Jakarta. His years of experience and approach to craftsmanship have greatly influenced the way Tentram creates its ceramics today.

The name Tentram was inspired by the feeling of peace and calm found in her teacher's home, where she learned ceramics. That welcoming atmosphere, combined with the meditative process of working with clay, became the foundation of what Tentram stands for.

Working with clay also taught us an important lesson: good work takes time. Every stage—from shaping and drying to glazing and firing—requires patience. Rushing the process often leads to unexpected results. We believe the same is true in life. Like fruit picked before it's ripe, some things simply need time before they're ready.

Today, that philosophy continues to guide everything we make. Every piece is handcrafted with patience, care, and respect for the natural rhythm of the making process.
